How it is made

How long does a custom suncatcher take to arrive?

Designing takes about a minute and is free. After you approve the design and check out through Tedooo, the piece is made in two to three weeks, then posted with tracking. A ready-made piece from the shop leaves within three to five days. Delivery time is added at checkout; Australia, for instance, is estimated at eighteen to twenty-one days.

How long does the design take?

About a minute for a suncatcher, often about half a minute for an ornament. Upload the photo, press the button, and the design is drawn and hung on the wall on screen. There is no account to make and no card to enter.

Allow a few minutes more for the part that is yours: looking at the design, trying another tone or another photo, and choosing a size. Designing, start to finish, takes about four minutes. Running it again costs nothing and adds about a minute each time. The photo guide saves a run or two by saying what works first time.

How long does the making take?

Two to three weeks from the day you approve the design and your payment clears. In that time the glass is cut by hand, painted, fired at 1,465°F, leaded, framed, signed and packed, by two people.

Now and then a batch waits an extra day in the kiln for the colour to come right; we would rather give it the day than send it early, and when that happens we tell you. The stages themselves are described in how a custom suncatcher is made.

How long does shipping take?

It depends on where you are. The estimate for your country is shown at checkout, along with shipping and any duties, and the piece is tracked all the way to your door. We ship worldwide.

We try to keep the estimate honest rather than hopeful. When a buyer in Melbourne waited nineteen days against an estimate of fourteen, we put Australia up to eighteen to twenty-one days on the checkout estimate rather than leave people watching a date that was never going to happen. If your piece is late against the estimate, you will hear from us; buyers rate how we keep them posted at 4.7 out of 5, and we message when something changes.

When do I pay?

At the end, once you have approved a design. Designing is free and there is no account to make first. You check out through Tedooo; no charge is made until then, and no glass is cut until the payment has cleared.

Because the piece is then made for one person, it is not returnable, which is why the approving happens before the paying. If anything about the design, the size or the timing is unclear, message us before you buy and a person answers, usually within the day. The gifting guide has the same timings arranged for a deadline.

How do I follow the order once it is placed?

Your order page shows where the piece is, and once it ships, the tracking. The Track your order link in the footer of every page takes you there.

Between approving and shipping, the piece is in the studio, and we message if anything changes the date. Once it is posted, the tracking follows it to the door. If you would rather talk to a person at any point, the contact button at the foot of the page reaches us. To start, upload a photo on the create page; the clock does not start until you approve.

Questions this leaves

Can I pay extra to have it made faster?

No. A custom piece takes two to three weeks because it is cut, painted, fired, leaded and framed by hand, and there is no faster way to do that well. If you need something sooner, a ready-made piece from the shop leaves within three to five days.

Does the two to three weeks include delivery?

No. Two to three weeks is the making; the piece is then posted, and delivery for your country is estimated at checkout and added on top. The create page puts it as "2–3 weeks, then posted" for that reason.

What if the estimate at checkout passes and nothing has arrived?

Check the tracking on your order page first, then message us; a person answers, usually within the day. We would rather hear from you early. Where an estimate has proved wrong for a country, we change the estimate, as we did for Australia.
