The piece
A 20 cm round in amber, rust and cream glass, hand-cut from sheet and painted before it goes anywhere near the kiln. The detail is fired at 1,465°F, which is what makes it permanent: the colour is in the glass, not on it, so it cannot scratch, peel or fade in a south-facing window.
The frame is soldered by hand and antiqued, and it hangs on a solid brass chain. Signed and dated on the back.
Ready-made pieces leave the studio in three to five days, in a double-walled box with a foam cradle, tracked end to end. US post is $6 and free over $75; international is calculated at checkout and takes seven to fourteen days. Duties, where they apply, are shown before you pay.
Every piece is cut, painted and fired to order, so we do not take returns. That makes the questions beforehand the important ones: size, colour, which window it is going in. We would much rather answer four of them than have you guess. Message us and a person replies, usually the same day.
Any window, any light. Dust it with a dry cloth; no glass cleaner on the leading. Direct sun will not fade it. That is the whole point of firing the colour in.

Bought it for a north-facing landing on the assumption it would look flat. It does not. Around four in the afternoon the whole stairwell goes orange.
I have bought a lot of things that turned out to be printed acrylic. This is glass, it has weight, and you can feel the solder on the back. The 20 cm is the right size for a standard sash window; the 15 would have been lost in it.
No complaints about the glass at all. It took nineteen days to reach Melbourne against an estimate of fourteen, and I would rather the estimate had just said nineteen.
